4 cloves or 6 cloves oval diamond?
I just got engaged and love my ring with one exception. My 8-carat oval seems odd with 6 prongs. The Diamond seems to really lose the oval shape with six teeth and wonder if I like it better with 4. I know it is so stable and why he went with 6 points is because the jewelry store encouraged us to, but when I watch it, really does not look like an oval and that is why we chose this stone to begin ... we love the oval shape. Any advice? Thanks
There are some options. 1. You could go with 4 points - it will not be as safe as 6 points, but the visual aspect is also important. 2. You can design your own environment with a professional jeweler. Expensive - but you should be happier with the visual appearance and security of the diamonds. 3. Personally, however, I tried to imagine what kind of configuration is working for me with an oval ring. I looked at a list of popular values (link to article with pictures below) and decided probably ask for a semi-bezel. A full bevel completely surrounds the stone, which is very safe, but blocks a lot of light bouncing around the diamond. (And, I admit, I love the rainbow bit, so I could not go with a full bezel.) Semi-bezel provides protection and not lose much luster. Besides, I think that would emphasize in the shape of the stone. Hope this helps.
